Company History
RM Education head office

Then

When Mike Fischer and Mike O'Regan first started the company in 1973 they supplied electrical components to hobbyists. Then they started building machines for the scientific, research and education market and they called the company Research Machines. By 1977 they built our first school computer and we've been supplying ICT to schools ever since. So, you could say we've been involved with ICT in education from the very beginning. Now education is our only focus; we're RM Education.

Now

There are more than 2,500 of us spanning four continents; a truly international company. Our head office is just outside Oxford and we've regional offices in Scotland and the North West of England. We also have a number of group companies across the UK, giving us wide geographical coverage and expertise in lots of areas of education other than ICT.

We're a global company focused on supporting teachers to teach and learners to learn. We provide innovative products and services from classroom resources, through school technologies to systems for marking exams and delivering school performance data.

How we work

The education environment is unique. And schools, colleges and universities need the very best technology and services. Because of that, we work in partnership with as many people involved in education as possible, from teachers and LA advisers to construction and IT companies. That way, we make sure our products and services are exactly what's needed. As for our own experience, many of us are ex teachers and many more are currently governors of schools and colleges. We're even fortunate enough to have key educational thinkers like Professor Tim Brighouse and Sir Mike Tomlinson on our board, advising and steering us to make sure our educational thinking is sound. And let's not forget the 50-odd educational consultants we have working with schools to make sure the ICT is delivering great learning.
