SEN
Every child is different - and every one can succeed, with the right help. Providing a learning experience that is right for every individual is a constant challenge for schools.
With a growing number of pupils who need additional or specialised learning support, this issue remains a high priority for most schools this year.
Here we focus on how technology can be used to enhance the experience in five key areas:
Engagement › Communication › Monitoring › Accessibility › Environment
New build transformation case study
The Michael Tippett School is the first BSF SEN school to open in London. Designed by London Eye architects Marks Barfield, the school provides a learning environment for around 80 pupils aged between 11 and 18 with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Every aspect of the building has been designed specifically for the needs of the students, including a sensory room and garden, hydrotherapy pool, spacious changing facilities with hoists, a kitchen to help students develop basic cooking skills, a drama studio and a community hall for sports and social activities. See how a new build programme has transformed learning at the Michael Tippett School.
