The Pupil: Education today's 'e-confident' children

Primary National Conference presentation

Presentation Overview

The world pupils find themselves in today is very different from that which we grew up in, as will be the world they participate in as adults. Pupils are confident and proficient users of technology and will need to take this e-confidence and adaptability into the world of work -whatever shape that will take in the future.

In this presentation, we explore how ICT can both motivate and support learning for today's e-confident pupils. Recognising that there is still intense pressure on primary schools to continue to raise standards in literacy and numeracy (the 3Rs), we show how the use of ICT to support creativity, communication and collaboration (the 3Cs!) can have a positive impact on standards and build the confidence, social skills and love of learning pupils will need for later life.

We will show, through video and classroom examples, how visually rich ICT resources can be used as a fertile stimulus for a variety of written, artistic, musical and spoken work. We then move on to examine each of the 3Cs of creativity, communication and collaboration and consider how ICT can be both a stimulus and an enabler of learning.
