What is RM Package Blueprint? RM Package Blueprint is a utility which will enable you to easily create application packages (MSIs) which have been tested by RM to work with your Community Connect® networks. These RM Package Blueprint files are available as part of your RM Support Contract.

RM Package Blueprint is our utility designed to help you create application installation packages (MSIs) without us infringing on any third party's software trademarks or copyright material. Currently, we are unable to distribute an MSI for third parties software without their agreement. With RM Package Blueprint we can capture the changes made when creating the MSI. These changes can then be converted into an RM Package Blueprint file, which automatically applies these changes on the network.

In order to use an RM Package Blueprint, you must have a copy of the original version of the software.

RM Package Blueprint as a process works on CC4 if you make a small configuration change. This is detailed in TEC1317675 in the Other Useful Articles section below. This change means you need to have the Q drive mapped and VB runtime assigned.

We are unable to guarantee that each application will work on a CC4 network due to the many variables present, such as:

• Differences in permissions.
• Differences in folder locations.

We are regularly updating the table below to indicate CC4 compatibility for individual Blueprints when known.

RM Package Blueprint Template - New for 2013!

We have now introduced RM Package Blueprint Template to complement the existing RM Blueprints. A Blueprint Template is an empty package folder structure which will allow you add a vendor's installer and import directly into the RM Management Console.

We will create these Package Templates for applications where versions change on a regular basis. The advantage of using a Package Template is that it is not tied to a specific version of an MSI or EXE and the same template can be used for each incremental update of an application. When a major update of an application occurs we will provide a new template. The templates will often include a settings package which will ensure the applications install and run smoothly.

Package Blueprints are available to download free of charge to all support contract holders. The tables below lists the softwares for which Package Blueprints are available.
Table 1 contains the latest versions of the most popular Package Blueprints with links to the download articles. The download article contains two files:

1. A video that shows you how to install the original software.
2. An RM Package Blueprint file for you to use to create the package once the original software is installed on a computer.

Table 2 lists all the software titles for which RM Package Blueprints are available, with links to the download articles.
Please note that many RM Package Blueprint files will only work with the exact version of the software they were created with. If you download software, make sure you keep a copy, as this version may no longer be available at a later date.

RM Package Blueprint Templates however, will work with any incremental update version of an application.

The original software can be obtained in the normal way from the software vendor. If you are unable to find an older version of the software, it could be available on the web from sites like OldApps.
