Cisco 1600 series Router
![[guide2.gif]](811a.gif)
The are two common variants of the Cisco 1600 series that IFL sell
are the 1603 and the 1605.
The 1603 has a single ethernet interface and ISDN port.
The 1605 router is similar to the 1603 except that it has two
ethernet connections and the ISDN port is added as a separate slot in card in the back of
the unit.
The LEDs on the 1600 series routers vary slightly from model to
model, but will look similar to these diagrams:

SYSTEM PWR (Green) - The router is switched on and power is
supplied.
SYSTEM OK (Green) - The router has booted successfully. This can
blink during the boot cycle.
LAN ACT / ETH0 ACT / ETH1 ACT (Green) - Data is being sent or
received on the relevant Ethernet interface.
LAN COL / ETH0 COL / ETH1 COL (Yellow) - Flashing LED indicates
packet collisions on this Ethernet interface.
BRI0 B1 / WIC B1 (Green) - An ISDN call is being made on the first
ISDN B-channel
BRI0 B2 / WIC B2 (Green) - An ISDN call is being made on the second
ISDN B-channel
Both routers also have an "ISDN OK" light on the back of
the router which can be used to diagnose ISDN problems. This light is labeled
"OK" and is located next to the ISDN BRI0 socket on the back of a 1603 and on
the silver WIC card on the back of the 1605.
If this light is not on after trying to make an Internet connection,
then there may be either be a problem with the cabling between the router and the ISDN
wall socket or a fault with the ISDN line itself.
