This policy applies to products where RM owns the Intellectual Property (eg Community Connect 4 and RM Local Support Tools) or where we have added significant additional functionality or features to a 3rd party's product (eg RM Tutor). Where RM resells an existing product without significant alteration, customers should refer to the manufacturer for end of life information. A list of terms used in this document is given at the bottom of this page.
Updates provided as part of a maintenance agreement or support contract
When a new software version is released as part of a software maintenance agreement, for example a Service Release for Community Connect 3, RM will provide telephone and online support (to eligible customers) for the previous version for 6 months. After this time customers will be required to upgrade to the new version in order to receive support, for example Community Connect 3 with Service Release 4 will be supported for 6 months after the release of Community Connect 3 Service Release 5.
When further updates / enhancements are released, RM will only test these on the current version ie Software Updates and Service Releases will only be available for the current version.
New purchasable product releases will only be available for the latest version of Community Connect / RM ClassMate. Chargeable Upgrades.
When a new version is released by RM independently of a software maintenance programme ie customers can choose to purchase the upgrade. RM will endeavour to provide a minimum supported period of 2 years. The exception is where the end of life date is dictated by a 3rd party.
Definitions
Version: This is the version of software. For Community Connect, the Service Release number is shown instead. For RM ClassMate, the version of the product is shown.
Product release date: This is the month that the first products were shipped. Where there is a staggered release eg for a Service Release, the date given will be when the last shipments occurred.
Still available to purchase? This indicates whether the software is still available to purchase. If "No" then additional licences may still be available to purchase.
End of non-critical software updates: From the end of this month, RM will cease to release any non-critical updates for the product. The end of all software updates (including critical updates) will normally coincide with the end of telephone support for a product.
End of support: From the end of this month, any customer with an RM support contract will be unable to telephone, email or log a call online for assistance. Information available on the RM Support Online Knowledge Library will continue to be available after this date for a period of twelve months.
Status: This is the current support status of a product. "Fully supported" means that telephone and email support will be available to contract holders. "Online only" means the only available support information will be in the RM Support Online Knowledge Library for a period of twelve months after full support has ended. In this context, online support does not include email support.
