Green RM
IT accounts for 2% of global CO2 emissions. As a responsible IT business we're committed to reducing that. It's not going to be easy but we've set ourselves some pretty demanding targets - and we hope to help our customers achieve their targets too.
See what we're doing to support you, and to make both our company and the products and services we provide greener.
We know how hard it can be to keep up with the latest trends and views on sustainability, so we've cherry-picked the most informative and important articles to make it a little easier for you. We regularly visit schools, colleges and universities that are passionate about the environment, and we're committed to sharing these successes too, by building up our resource centre to help you bring sustainability to life in the classroom.
There's an environmental impact in everything we do, from driving to work to planning a new building. So we have plenty of opportunities to cut CO2. Saving energy, sending less rubbish to landfill, making fewer business trips - it's not just green, it makes good business sense: the more we save, the better value we offer.
Everyone is involved. Green RM started as a staff initiative and their efforts have made a difference at every level - right down to recycling the restaurant coffee grounds.
IT is essential for exciting and engaging teaching. The downside is that it's a major contributor to electricity bills and carbon footprint. The hardware also takes large amounts of energy to produce and dispose of. We're balancing these issues with lower power consumption versions that last longer and can be produced, delivered, installed and disposed of more efficiently. We'll also give you clear information at every step.
As we're committed to this we'll share our progress each quarter. Last updated November 03 2010
