This is the fourth year of our popular and well-regarded Making IT Happen programme.
We are delighted to continue this blend of communications and conferences.
Our Making IT Happen communications for 2007 (in print, email and online) will continue to provide information, opinion and guidance for your direction with ICT, and our free national conferences in March provided further inspirational, motivational and highly relevant presentations on the most significant ICT topics today and tomorrow. Five steps to successfully implementing a learning platform
It seems such a long time to 2008, but, in reality, it's just around the corner. Learning platforms are a cultural change to your organisation, and the government directs that you must have a provision in place next year!
The Making IT Happen publication has been designed to help to empower you, by providing information and advice on how to get the best solution for your school. It can be tough to be fully informed on how to manage and successfully move forward with such a huge project. Recently, at the March conferences we presented our own Kaleidos Learning Platform, and offered advice on the steps required before implementing a learning platform and what to look for in a provider, regardless of who the supplier may be.
Inside the publication
Issue 3 of Making IT Happen explores the steps which should be taken, before committing yourself to a solution. As Dr Nick Baylis, co-director of the Well-being Institute, University of Cambridge, and one of our key note speakers at the conferences, states in his book Wonderful Lives: 'Short-cuts rather miss the point that most of the pleasure and goodness of life comes from experiencing the journey, not simply arriving.' This could be sound advice for you on your learning platform journey.
The publication also hears from some key figures 'in the know' - only too happy to share their experiences with you. Step 3: learn from others! Read the comments from Richard Rule, head of a primary school in Kent, and Tim Clark, RM's Learning Platforms Business Manager.

You can also see some learning platform highlights from the conferences, in a short video. Donna Rogers (primary school teacher), Andy Hutt (ex-teacher) and Amanda Peck (RM Primary Marketing) use a live learning platform and demonstrate some key functionality. This may help with Step 2: Set your goals and key priorities.
