Features and Benefits

Engage reluctant readers

Research consistently shows boys’ reading lags behind girls, with 76% of UK schools concerned about boys’ underachievement in reading. Targeted intervention can dramatically improve reading ability, RM Books makes this easy for you by allowing you to easily allocate different ebooks by gender or reading age.

Build confidence in English as an additional language

15% of primary school children and 11% of secondary school students have a mother tongue other than English.
RM Books gives students access to English books from anywhere, even at home outside of school hours, allowing pupils to use the texts to support independent reading.

Stretch more able pupils

Ofsted continues to place emphasis on provision and outcomes for the “most able pupils”, but how do you support and engage your more able students in literacy? Seven and 30 day rental options make it affordable for schools to vary titles and genres, keeping it interesting for the teachers as well as pupils. Alongside this, RM Books offers rigorous tracking and monitoring tools of pupil progress, to support you in meeting your Ofsted requirements.

Support group reading

Ofsted looks for successful implementation of effective whole school literacy policies but it is often difficult to engage a whole class in a group reading activity, even with a big book. RM Books provides a wide range of engaging books which can be shared with the whole class by using a whiteboard. Being an online solution, RM Books also frees up the space taken by physical books.

Embed flipped learning

Many schools are trying this new teaching technique - but do they have the right resources to support it?
For students to independently learn away from the classroom, they need access to suitable content at home which is convenient, affordable, effective, appropriate, and accurate. With RM Books, teachers can annotate the books with links to websites, videos, images and quizzes for students to read at home, and debate in class.

Books can be purchased under different licences:

Whiteboard
As above with the rights to display the book on the whiteboard.

Library
This enables teachers to put the book in the elibrary, one student borrows the book, it is theirs until it is returned and then available for the next student to borrow.
