Overview
The RM SAN solution has been designed specifically for the education market, other SAN providers are focused on wider business needs which can lead to over complex solutions at unnecessary cost.
RM has worked with our partner EMC to design a flexible, scalable way of designing the SAN array that's perfect for you. With maximum redundancy and minimum cost, the Clariion CX4-120 model is sure to be an asset to your establishment for years to come.
RM SAN solutions are unique: not only will you receive the benefit of EMC's huge experience in supporting SAN arrays, but you will also have the comfort of knowing that RM engineers will support the inter-connectivity between your SAN and the rest of your network-peace of mind for your valuable data.
The CX4-120 comprises dual redundant storage processor units and between 1 and 8 Disk Array Enclosures (DAEs or shelves). Each DAE can contain up to 15 disks, so the array can contain up to 120 disks.
SAN means highly efficient use of storage space; you can extend the life of your servers and reduce the required storage maintenance. You can also consolidate all storage into one easy to manage, fault tolerant pool.
Grow your storage space according to your needs. This is a long term solution; when you run out of space on your SAN solution, you can simply add another tray of disk drives.
You can dynamically reallocate disk and storage space to each of your servers as they fill and make optimum use of the storage capacity of your network by reallocating space from one server to another.
Why choose RM?

FAQ
Tell me a bit more about the CX4-120...
The CX4-120 comprises dual redundant storage processor units and between 1 and 8 Disk Array Enclosures (DAEs or shelves). Each DAE can contain up to 15 disks, so the array can contain up to 120 disks. Disks within a DAE must be of the same technology, i.e. Fibre Channel or SATA. The array can comprise a mixture of Fibre Channel and SATA DAEs; however the first DAE must be Fibre Channel.
How many SAN hosts can connect to the array?
The theoretical maximum limit is 64; however the practical limit is 16.
Can CC3 servers be SAN hosts?
Absolutely, yes. RM has validated our SAN solutions with CC3 and we are confident that the compliment each other perfectly.
What rack space is required and where?
2U for storage processor unit, 1U for Supplementary power supply, 3U for each DAE, 2U for the switches and 2U for ventilation. SAN arrays are not supplied with server cabinets. Server cabinets must be 1000mm deep to accommodate a SAN. Please ask us about our range of RM server cabinets.
