Multimedia Module

You will need to be a member of Living Library to subscribe to the Multimedia Module. You can order both of these at the same time by using the relevant part numbers above.

If you are already a Living Library member, please call our customer membership team on 0845 121 3347, who will arrange for your membership to be upgraded to include the Multimedia Module. Your subscription will be brought in line with your Living Library contract and you will only pay for the equivalent of the remainder of your contract period.

Supporting teaching and learning

A Living Library primary school site licence lets you use Living Library in school whenever you want. It also comes with an unlimited home use licence for all teachers.

With your subscription you can also use the secondary website. It works in a similar way to the primary one, and you can find even more resources to help with lesson plans, class projects, or homework tasks.

How do I get access to Living Library's primary reference resources?

Living Library is a subscription service with an annual charge. Purchasing a subscription gives your school access to all the content in Living Library. We will send you a username and password. The first time you use Living Library and want to see an individual article, you will be asked for your login details.

Can I or my pupils access Living Library from home?

Yes, there's a home subscription to Living Library so pupils and parents can use it too. If you are a teacher, home use is included as standard to support lesson plans using Living Library.

Can I print out pictures and articles from Living Library?

Yes. You can use Living Library resources as long as you have a current subscription. You can print out or copy and paste any material within Living Library, as long as you use it within an educational context. However this does not apply to the web sites that Living Library provides links to, which will have their own copyright policy.

Is Living Library safer to use than an internet search engine?

Yes. Educational experts have checked all the material in Living Library to ensure it is suitable for use in schools. Also all the material comes from trusted educational publishers and the web links are continuously reviewed.

Can't I get access to all of this information on the internet for free?

No! The resources in Living Library are produced by the UK's leading educational publishers and media providers. They are not available in one place anywhere else, and most of them are not available through any internet service. They are also specially written for a school-age audience, unlike the majority of the content on the internet, and have been specially selected for their curriculum relevance, to save you time.

How do I set up a link to Living Library on my school homepage?

My school is a middle school - which subscription should I choose?

When you subscribe to Living Library, you get access to both primary and secondary sites. Pricing is dependant on the size of your school. Therefore, if your school has over 600 pupils, you will need to refer to the Living Library for secondary schools page.

Caching

The performance of all web delivered content including Living Library can be improved by installing a cache server such as RM SmartCache 2.
