ICT Key Stage 1

• Gather information from a variety of sources (1a). 
• Enter and store information in a variety of forms (1b).
• Retrieve information that has been stored (1c).
• Select from and add to information retrieved for particular purposes (2b).
• Share ideas by presenting information in a a variety of forms (3a).

ICT Key Stage 2

• Prepare information for development using ICT (1b).
• Interpret information (1c).

• Representing information graphically: pictograms (1E).
• Collecting and presenting information: questionaires and pie charts (4D).

• Strand: Using the technology A-F.
• Strand: Collecting and analysing A-E.

Key Stage 1 Programme of Study

• Communicating and handling information (1.1, 1.2 and 1.3) e.g. Generate and communicate ideas in different forms using text, tables, pictures and sound as approprate.

Key Stage 2 Programme of Study

• Communicating and handling information (1.1 and 1.2) e.g. use ICT equipment and software to organise, reorganise and analyse ideas and information.

Graphs can be used to handle and present information in maths, geography and science. RM Starting Graph 2 complements the maths curricula in several areas related to numbers and organising data. In addition the program can be used to support teaching across the curriculum e.g.

• Collect information about the class as part of the 5-14 Scottish guidelines for Maths (Information handling), strands: collect, organise, display and interpret (Levels A-B).
• Present scientific information appropriately in a number of ways, through diagrams, drawings, tables and charts as part of Communication in Science Key Stage 1 (2.2, 2.3 and 2.5). Programme of Study for Scientific enquiry, National Curriculum in Wales.
• Collect data on land use in the local village and ask pupils to present their information using ICT e.g. in databases, as simple graphs, as simple pie charts, to help complement geography teaching - QCA Geography (Unit 6 - Investigating our local area), England.
