The collaboration integrates the RM’s one-to-one devices into the DPA’s Tech4Learning scheme, providing schools with a sustainable, long-term solution to bridge the digital divide and improve educational outcomes.
The partnership addresses a critical disparity in UK education. Recent research from the DPA reveals that while 90% of secondary school students are required to complete online tasks weekly, one in five children still lack access to a suitable device at home. This "smartphone trap" where students attempt to complete complex assignments on mobile phones - hinders digital literacy and academic progress.
The Tech4Learning scheme provides a transparent donation management portal that allows schools and parents to fund one-to-one device programmes equitably. By joining forces with RM Technology, schools can now access a comprehensive package of high-performance devices, insurance, and warranty, designed specifically for the rigours of student life.
The partnership also unlocks unique financial benefits. Through the Tech4Learning portal, schools can claim an additional 25% in Gift Aid on eligible donations. Furthermore, RM Technology is integrating HP’s Brighter Future and Lenovo’s ConnectEd schemes into the offering. This enables schools to claim up to £125 in cashback per device through HP and up to £150 through Lenovo for every old device traded in, which can be reinvested directly into their digital strategy. For the second year running, RM Technology was the number one partner for HP’s Brighter Future scheme, ensuring that £660,000 in cashback was handed back to schools and 6,131 devices found a second life.
