Help drive parental engagement via RM Unify

The RM Unify team are very pleased to be able to announce the release of our latest feature for Premium customers - Teams Assignments weekly digest.

This isn't just a nifty technical enhancement to make more and better use of your MIS data in Microsoft 365 via RM Unify, it's also one of the simplest ways to help drive parental engagement and to help build better and more supportive relationships between schools, and students and their families.

What is the digest exactly?

This is something that many schools have been requesting for a while now. Within Microsoft 365 Teams is functionality that allows weekly digests of student Assignments (schoolwork, homework) to be automatically emailed to the parents or guardians of those students. The digest provides a summary of the work done in the past week and also what's been assigned for the coming week.

What's the challenge?

The challenge for schools lies in validating parent and guardian email addresses (to receive the digests), then syncing them to Microsoft 365, and finally ensuring that they're connected to the correct corresponding student accounts. Microsoft documentation advises to use Graph API commands, or to install and setup SDS (School Data Sync), both of which are technically involved and not straightforward.

How can RM Unify help?

Where a school is federated to Microsoft 365 and has MIS Sync enabled, by using the existing Parent Management functionality to create RM Unify accounts, these parent/guardian contact email addresses can now be easily synced to Microsoft 365, for use with the Assignments weekly digest.

Full instructions on how to enable this new feature can be found in this help article.

We know that there are many Google users of RM Unify too, and that there is a similar email summary functionality within Google Classroom. If you would like to see this in a future RM Unify release please let us know via the Ideas link in the RM Unify Help section.

Hope you're all enjoying the daffodils and primroses: Spring is on its way! Until next time, keep well, Jason.
