The RM SafetyNet ‘SSL interception’ functionality gives us the ability to successfully intercept and filter inappropriate search results. In order to perform SSL interception, RM SafetyNet needs to decrypt, analyse, and then re-encrypt all traffic using a security certificate. This certificate will ensure that your users remain protected from inappropriate content when searching using Google.
Our helpdesk will be happy to help you during this important task. If you would like to speak to a support representative about this issue, please call 0808 1729 535.
We have produced a set of instructions and downloads to guide you through installing the certificate correctly on all major operating systems (for both managed and standalone devices). Please make sure you download the files and documentation you need.

Please be aware that Google have removed support for SSL Interception on Android and on the latest version of Chrome for Android.Google's policy change will affect all filtering products that support SSL interception to block content in search results.
It is still possible to install the certificate on your Android device but the device browser will no longer trust the certificate. Users with an sslfilter proxy address will not be able to access search engines or sites that RM have enabled SSL Interception on. When access is required for newer Android devices, we recommend using the nosslfilter proxy address. Schools should consider carefully which users are allowed to use Android devices without SSL Interception.
Without SSL Interception, RM SafetyNet will still block access to filtered domains, however the Active Adapt content filter will not be able to filter any search results, a filtered site would still be blocked if the user clicks on the link but they may see some content from that site such as an image or text description within the search results.
Chromebooks and Chrome for Windows or iOS are not affected by this change.
