In June 2016, we spoke to Maxine Evans, CEO of NET Academies Trust to glean her experience and thoughts on running a multi-academy trust, the role of IT in the Trust and the partnership with RM.
"The vision is to use technology in a consistent way across all our academies, as a means of connecting individuals, the academies, the clusters and the Trust seamlessly. This will allow effective and efficient sharing, collaboration, comparability, communication, consistency and innovative use of technology across our academies. Value for money is also essential and we wanted to work with an organisation that could treat us as one entity, even though our academies are geographically spread."
"We want technology to support teaching and provide innovative opportunities for learning, as well as supporting the operational aspects of an academy." We want staff and pupils to use technology as a tool, in the same way we do books and pencils, so that the professionals are free to analyse, plan, prepare and, most importantly, work with pupils and engage in regular pupil feedback."
In 2015, the Trust selected RM Education to provide a central support service from RM Flex, with cloud-based proactive monitoring and remote fixing to ensure that IT is consistently accessible in the academies and to reduce the need for expensive on-site resources. In addition, there is the option for an RM engineer to visit the academies on a regular basis for any of the manual technical work that cannot be done remotely. Six months later we interviewed Maxine again to hear her thoughts on the benefits of the RM Flex service incorporating 'cloud' solutions so far:
