RM Technology, the leading EdTech solutions provider, has extended its long-standing partnership with South Lanarkshire Council (“SLC”).
The new agreement, which runs for seven years from October 2025 with an option to extend for a further five years, will see RM Technology continue to provide a fully managed service for the council’s local and wide area networks across approximately 250 establishments. This includes 125 primary schools, 17 secondary schools, and 7 additional support needs schools.
SLC has been working with RM Technology for over 25 years, with the partnership having evolved into a cornerstone of the council’s digital strategy. This new contract builds on this successful history of collaboration, ensuring that SLC’s schools have reliable, cost-effective, and future-proof technology infrastructure to support excellent teaching and learning.
The new agreement will see RM Technology work to drive forward SLC’s digital transformation strategy. This includes completing the ongoing transition to a serverless cloud environment giving schools more secure and flexible technology services, so they can handle changing demands, from rising pupil numbers to new digital learning tools, without disruption, Under the previous contract signed in 2020, RM Technology and SLC successfully managed the transition of all of the council’s primary schools and half of its secondary schools to this system.
The previous contract also saw RM Technology work to improve the SLC network, refresh core hardware and centralise connectivity, playing a crucial role in supporting remote learning throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Douglas Hutton, Account Director and Head of Territory at RM Technology, said:
This contract extension is testament to the strong partnership we have built with South Lanarkshire Council over the last two decades. Our team on the ground is dedicated to ensuring the technology in every school ‘just works’ so that teachers and students can focus on what’s most important – learning. We’re keen to continue supporting the council’s forward-thinking digital strategy, including the ongoing transition of schools to a serverless cloud environment.
Ian Mackinnon, CEO at RM Technology, said:
Renewing our long-standing partnership with South Lanarkshire Council is a significant milestone for RM Technology. The new contract reflects the deep trust and collaborative spirit that has defined our relationship since 2003. This agreement solidifies our role in providing a future-proof, cost-effective managed service that will support South Lanarkshire’s schools for years to come and continue to drive their digital transformation.
Stewart Nicolson, Head of Education at South Lanarkshire Council, said:
Our partnership with RM Technology is a critical part of our ongoing digital strategy. This new contract provides us with the stability and security we need to continue modernising our schools. By having a fully managed network, we can empower our school leaders and staff to innovate and deliver a high-quality curriculum, knowing that the underlying technology infrastructure is robust, reliable, and entirely taken care of.
