The REAL Centre (Rethinking Education And Learning) is a permanent space located at our Oxfordshire Head Office. It is designed to provoke discussion and research about how the integrated design of furniture and technology can provide flexibility and extend the range of activities to support a more learner centred approach. Anyone engaged in refurbishing or designing new learning spaces should visit the centre for ideas of what is possible -
The Centre has a number of learning spaces, each has been designed around a specific educational context. Each zone has purpose-designed furniture and state of the art technology.
Da Vinci Studio - a practical, exploratory and creative project space showcasing how art, science and technology can be used across the curriculum
Communication and Sensory - an area designed to develop communication skills with students of differing abilities including sensory work
Smart Buildings - an area supporting efficient building operation
Creative and Media - demonstrating how more traditional learning spaces can incorporate creative activities to motivate and engage
Open Learning- a flexible learning area to provide an environment for project based activities, encourage independent study as well as supporting group learning

A horizontal interactive and collaborative surface that improves the group dynamic and can be rotated through 90 degrees for presentations
Stepped seating that creates an area for forum style presentation, debate and discussion
A soundproof pod for speaking and listening activities including video diaries and pod casting that can be passively supervised
Furniture that has been designed to incorporate data and power management and can easily be reconfigured to accommodate different learning activities
Portable chroma key technology and stop motion animation that can be used to inject a creative element anywhere across the curriculum
A range of LEGO® Education resources to support practical and problem solving learning incorporating machines, mechanisms and robotics
Touch screens and height adjustable plasma, eye controlled communication devices, light beams, voice and switch activation.
The REAL centre is open to all, including schools, educators, RM partners and customers.
