As part of our next planned release, RM Unify v3.56, due to be released in June, we will be making some changes to improve our integration with Google.

We are making two changes that will affect customers who have federated a G Suite domain with RM Unify:

User Identifiers

Google has introduced the ability to add custom user fields to Google identities and we will be registering two custom attributes in G Suite to store the Identity GUID and Establishment GUID for each user that we provision into G Suite. Currently our Google provisioning code relies on user properties to identify identities but moving our logic to rely on unique identifiers, as it already does for O365, once we can record this data will be more reliable.

Google Groups

We want to strengthen the security configuration of groups provisioned into G Suite above the Google default security level. This change will ensure that only internal e-mail communication is allowed within each newly provisioned Google group.

We can't make any of these changes, however, without the approval of the designated data controller for your establishment and so we will require RM Unify administrators to accept the additional permissions in the Google wizard to enable these changes. Once RM Unify v3.56 is released, we will direct RM Unify admins with federated Google tenancies to run through part of the RM Unify Google federation wizard again to grant the additional access required. Until these additional permissions are granted, our code will be unable to apply the new user attributes and group security level to the individual tenancy or create new Google groups in the individual tenancy.

We'll provide more detail of the steps you will need to take nearer to the release but in the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch with us at rmunify@rm.com
