Starflight Academy
RM Starflight Academy launches in the first week of June, with astronaut teacher Mike Mongo delivering the first out of this world lesson in person at a primary school. After lift-off, and for every week of June, new lesson resources and exciting classroom projects will be available on our website to inspire your students to reach for the stars. Mike Mongo will continue to deliver weekly lessons about all things space, engaging classrooms of young learners with his experience and enthusiasm.
The content has been built with educational experts from both RM and SaxaVord Spaceport, and will utilise resources from STEM learning and ESERO‑UK.
Aimed at KS 2 & 3 pupils, the RM Starflight Academy sessions explore the following key topics amongst others:
- skills necessary to succeed in space
- jobs in the space sector
- space habitat construction
- overcoming adversity and the importance of supporting one another in space
- how humans and robots will work together in space.
You can see Mike talking about his plans for the sessions!
